UPCOMING WORKSHOPS
Sexuality, Intimacy & the Stories
We Carry: A Creative Writing Workshop
for Individuals & Couples
Saturday, September 26 |
10:00 AM–1:00 PM EST | Online
The stories we carry about sexuality, intimacy, our bodies, and relationships don't begin with us.
Through our families, cultures, communities, gender roles, and relationships, we inherit ideas about who we're supposed to be, what we're allowed to want, and how intimacy and relationships are supposed to look.
Sexuality, Intimacy & the Stories We Carry is a three-hour creative writing workshop for individuals and couples exploring these inherited stories and creating space to shape our own.
During the workshop, we'll:
-
Explore the stories you carry about sexuality, intimacy & relationships.
-
Learn how psychodynamic theory can help us understand the influence of culture & gender on desire, intimacy & relationships.
-
Write, reflect & imagine the stories you want to create.
-
The workshop will combine a short, accessible psychodynamic lecture with guided creative writing, personal reflection, and optional group discussion.
No writing experience is necessary, and you will never be required to share what you write.
Individuals and couples are welcome. Partners attending together are not expected to share their private writing with one another.
Limited to 16 participants.
Facilitated by Shalyn Isaacs, M.Ed., Psychotherapist & Writer
